Our civic behavior at the Fair ...
**A collective Eco-Responsible approach**
Did you know that a demonstration of 5,000 people generates around 2.5 tonnes of waste, 500 kilos of paper and consumes 1,000 kWh of energy? This is equivalent to two months of energy consumption in a household. Our event welcomes nearly 33,000 visitors, and each edition of the Roy René Fair enjoys growing success. It is therefore crucial for us to reconcile the organization of this event with sustainable development in order to minimize our environmental impact.
For this 22nd edition of the Fair,we are renewing and reinforcing for the second time our commitment to an eco-responsible approach. Our goal is to make the event more environmentally friendly, in harmony with the daily actions of the town of Peyrolles-en-Provence, the territory, the Metropolis and the Southern Region.
**Together, let's sort our waste !**
At each Fair and in our four taverns, we implement the following initiatives:
- Preparation of around 3,000 meals with fresh products purchased in Peyrolles or within a 15 km radius.
- Use of 5,000 reusable cups of 30 cl and 60 cl, washed on site and collected in taverns against a deposit of 1 € to prevent them from being thrown into nature.
- Use of 3,000 wooden cutlery and 3,000 vegetable pulp plates, 100% recyclable and compostable. Green waste will be collected in a compostable bin.
To support this approach, we install specific 200 L bins for selective sorting, as well as 3 L ''ashtrays'' bins for collecting cigarette butts (a cigarette butt takes around 10 years to degrade and pollutes 500 L of 'water).
The signage below will help you sort with EKO, our little dragon :
- For plastics, cans, cardboard and all packaging
- For food and compostable waste
- For non-recyclable waste : those which do not fall into other categories
- For cigarette butts
For more information, the plan from the event and the Info Point, located in the center of the Fair, next to the Garden of the Tour, is at your disposal.
**All together, let's have a great party !**

Disposable glasses were replaced in 2016 by 5,000 reusable cups for life, to collect or return in storage in one of the 4 taverns in exchange for ’1 euro. The tableware is also 100% recyclable into vegetable pulp. 5000 wooden cutlery are used. The installation of dry toilets or specific bins allowing the selective sorting of aluminum cans also goes in the direction of eco-citizen behavior. We are counting on you to help us respect the planet in these moments of jubilation.
